Notebooks, sketch and a fairy tale

Margherite

Finally spring has arrived, with a lot of good news: a warm sun, flowers, perfumes (my online shop open), walks in the countryside (Facebook page under construction) and the desire to create.

Rapunzel Notebook Deer Doll

What I want to tell you today is very funny. In my shop I put the little notebooks made by me from recycled paper, I used photographs of two of my dolls (sold! Goodbye my little Rapunzel!) and a pair of abstract designs on fairies as covers. I love all kinds of Moleskine or notebook sketches and drawings and writings.

Fairy

So I remembered that the drawing was my first love of a child. To date, I struggle to find the time to draw, but sometimes I do this. So yesterday I found a book of exercises illustration in my library, (that is between total mess). The first project is to draw THIRTY cats from the bed (Funny, isn’t it? This really makes the idea of the sketch on paper!) and then color them and develop techniques for illustration and color. So I remembered that a long time ago I already drew this, to tell a tale of my invention to my son Nicola. The title of the story was, in fact: "The thirty cats of  San Giacomo" (St. James, in Italian language is the name of a little country near my house).
Isn't amazing? THIRTY cats!
I was so amused by this coincidence!

Sketch

Buona giornata creativa!

Nicola is a child who loves fairy tales. I have never met someone more passionate about him. He's only 4 years, but he knows about 60 fairy tales and many of these by heart! I can say that for sure, because this is the collection that I I gave him a couple of years ago. For a time, every day he wanted to listen to the fairy tale: "The thirty cats of San Giacomo" .
I invented this story because one day I was talking to my husband asking him if the country near here, called San Giacomo, was very large. To tell me that this was very small he used an Italian expression, an idiom, which means: "very few people live there" and he said: "It 's small. There will be thirty cats in it "...
So my fairy tales was born, ahahah!
So I really imagined a country where 30 cats live all together and each of them do a different job. They are very happy and they always do a lot of parties, of course.
I tell the story in my next post.
Have a Good creative day!

My sweet Rapunzel

Rapunzel

Rapunzel

Today I completed the registration form for Nicola’s kindergarten.
I had to complete also the line where I write my job.
It 's strange.
I had to write "housewife" which is correct and accepted by the society (in a written module).
It 's considered as a work, but it is unpaid.
It would have been right write whatever I do.
And who knows how many people like me!
I should write housewife, oh, yeah ...
And then: mom, artist, photographer, seamstress, friend, chef and… woman!
In short, a whole person.
Housewife sounds a bit reductive.Don’t you think?
Sometimes I feel myself as a sort of Wonder Woman… (who lives her double identity as a secret, of course!)
Fortunately to keep me company ... there is Rapunzel that know something about freedom and limits!
Free Rapunzel!
Let's free ourselves, our creativity, our Rapunzel in the tower.
Let us know as we are, as we deserve anywhere, anytime.

E chissà quante persone come me!
Io avrei dovuto scrivere: casalinga, oh, certo...
E poi: mamma, artista, fotografa,sarta,amica,cuoca e... donna!

Rapunzel

My sweet little doll is modeled in airdrying clay, while her dress, hair and all parts are made of paper.
While I created I really have seen her come alive with the magic touch that often I find just admiring the works of other artists.
And much more is under construction.
But it's right to let a little space to all the other jobs I do :-)

E molto altro è in preparazione.
