Edward Foster: Wanted!

Edward Foster

Attenzione!

Attention please!
An incredible fact has happened! A little gnome without fear, has turned away from my creative lab.
His name is Edward Foster, is about  2.76” tall and walked away with his favorite toy in the afternoon. The investigations immediately started and currently there have been many reports.
He was seen in a forest near by , his smile makes think that he’s carefree and he wants to go back home, but when it seems to him.
Some children were able to photograph him, in exchange for some peanuts.

Edward Foster

Teniamoci aggiornati!

It has a yellow polka-dot jersey and green socks. He sings Moon River all the time, so, please, do not join in the chorus, nor dance. Rather try to convince him to return to home. His friends, the finger puppets, are waiting for him. They ‘ll give to Edward the entire shelf and they ‘ll go into the box. (So as they told).
He has a cheerful and carefree character, but is obstinate and rebellious too.
As for me, after a scolding, he can eat the muffins that I have cooked.
Let's keep up to date!
Edward Foster

Some ideas and a little owl

Little owl and two clouds

Correcting a bit 'with some program, you get really cool effects.
Aside from the curiosity of the people who do not understand what you're doing, I managed to photograph an old friend: the little owl. Its feathers are made of paper applications and putting him inside a trunk, it seems almost a magical creature.

Little owl

I'm full of projects, I would like to do a giveaway to promote my new facebook page. And I'd love to give some of my creatures to my readers.
Then I would tell you about a film and a book I'm reading.
And I still have pending the tale of the thirty cats, I havn't forgotten!

Little owl

Buon weekend a tutti, amici!

Maybe my owl will help me with a little magic and the hours of the day will be slower.
Who knows ....
Happy weekend to all, my friends!

Behind the mirror

Finger puppet

Ciao a tutti.

Hi all.I'm the purple queen, a new finger puppet.
In this blog there are all our stories, but today “someone” (Linda, for example) wanted to talk about something else and be politically incorrect (in every sense).
So we made a pact today:  will not talk about me, but I'll write the post.
It is not easy to be a good queen, understand the dreams of their own subjects, know the problems of the kingdom and solve them. It's hard to be loved, it is easier to be appreciated if you don’t pretend to be understood.
But we're talking about me and I made a deal.

Finger puppet

I'll talk about how much Linda loves her country, Italy. I'll talk about how no one can see this kingdom (poor little kingdom). A powerful spell has been cast on it and now people can only see it through a mirror. This mirror has the glass so dirty and ruined that people really believe that this is them country… opaque and distant, without colors.
And believe that it is all their fault, because the mirror is also this, the reflection of the viewer.
They do not know about the spell.
They don’t know that a powerful witch has put a thick and unbreakable glass between Italy and the people. This witch is not the witch of fairy tales, where the good guys win at the the end and she goes away forever. This witch is the witch of the thoughts, of the beliefs, of the resignation,of the fear.
She’s the most powerful witch than you ever imagined.

Finger Puppet

So we are waiting for a prince, even walking, without a horse, without a mantle, even a prince not charming, it does not much matter. But he must bring a magical hammer, made of hope, values, trust, joy and brotherhood.
A hammer that breaks this cursed mirror.
The true Italy can still be seen, loved, lived.
One of the most beautiful countries in the world.

Notebooks, sketch and a fairy tale

Margherite

Finally spring has arrived, with a lot of good news: a warm sun, flowers, perfumes (my online shop open), walks in the countryside (Facebook page under construction) and the desire to create.

Rapunzel Notebook Deer Doll

What I want to tell you today is very funny. In my shop I put the little notebooks made by me from recycled paper, I used photographs of two of my dolls (sold! Goodbye my little Rapunzel!) and a pair of abstract designs on fairies as covers. I love all kinds of Moleskine or notebook sketches and drawings and writings.

Fairy

So I remembered that the drawing was my first love of a child. To date, I struggle to find the time to draw, but sometimes I do this. So yesterday I found a book of exercises illustration in my library, (that is between total mess). The first project is to draw THIRTY cats from the bed (Funny, isn’t it? This really makes the idea of the sketch on paper!) and then color them and develop techniques for illustration and color. So I remembered that a long time ago I already drew this, to tell a tale of my invention to my son Nicola. The title of the story was, in fact: "The thirty cats of  San Giacomo" (St. James, in Italian language is the name of a little country near my house).
Isn't amazing? THIRTY cats!
I was so amused by this coincidence!

Sketch

Buona giornata creativa!

Nicola is a child who loves fairy tales. I have never met someone more passionate about him. He's only 4 years, but he knows about 60 fairy tales and many of these by heart! I can say that for sure, because this is the collection that I I gave him a couple of years ago. For a time, every day he wanted to listen to the fairy tale: "The thirty cats of San Giacomo" .
I invented this story because one day I was talking to my husband asking him if the country near here, called San Giacomo, was very large. To tell me that this was very small he used an Italian expression, an idiom, which means: "very few people live there" and he said: "It 's small. There will be thirty cats in it "...
So my fairy tales was born, ahahah!
So I really imagined a country where 30 cats live all together and each of them do a different job. They are very happy and they always do a lot of parties, of course.
I tell the story in my next post.
Have a Good creative day!

Finger Puppets again

Work in progress

Crazy for Little Red Riding Hood

Fairy Tale in the box

Once Upon a time there was a girl called Little Red Riding Hood.
She lived in a magical forest with the Little Bad Wolf and they got along well.
They were inseparable friends, Little Red Riding Hood always disobeyed all and the Little Bad Wolf ate only wild berries and lentils. They lived together many adventures and there were no hunters, nor ballad singer.
And they lived happily ever after.

Gratitude

Stones

I don’t love self-help’s books, but I received one as a gift and I can say that it’s really fantastic.
It's titled “The Magic” by Rhonda Byrne. I don’t love even  this writer, because I think that “The Secret” 's approach is definitely too materialistic. But “The Magic” speaks about a concept that is the basis of all philosophies and all religions: gratitude.
Be thankful for whatever we have is the easiest thing in the world, but also what we take for granted. Nobody remembers how nice it ‘s to have a roof over your head, sleep in a comfortable bed, have shoes, have internet or colors to draw. Everything is obvious, do not pay attention to the feeling of being grateful. But this feeling lucky and to say "Thank you! Thank you!Thank you!" really brings us to a state of inner fullness and happiness. I love to do an exercise:  to see the positive side of the experiences that have disappointed me.

Little Red Riding Hood

I made this work to participate in a contest, but my piece was not chosen.
My piece will not be exposed in the exhibition, as instead I dreamed.
But here's what I received: I worked with passion, I enjoyed it, I have dreamed, I have received compliments and approval, I made someone smile, I thought of something and now I can hold it in my hands.
Isn’t it more than all the rest?

Dreaming of spring

Woodland

April is coming, but is not yet spring. Here in Italy there are snow, rain and cold. The sun seems to be a memory. But I can imagine the sparkly air and clear sky, white clouds and warm sun.
I imagine the green lawn, but the bright green that you can see in the spring. And the colorful flowers, violets, roses.
Nicola and I love to take walks in woodland and don’t forget to leave gifts for fairies or build houses of leaves, pine cones, wood and stones for them. We are sure that the fairy people likes so much the curious gifts of human beings.

Ladybug girl

I like to imagine the fairies take shelter from the rain under the mushrooms, or dancing in the night in the fairy circles we have done for them. Or imagine them driving madly in their cars made as a ladybug.

Teru Teru Bozu

Today we did two Teru Teru Bozu: two small paper dolls that we hung on the terrace. They are magical amulets that will call back soon the sun and driving out rain.Perhaps the spring is already here, in the hearts of children and any artist.

What have you done?

Pirate

Ok. Sometimes, when I look  the calendar and I count the days flew by, I hear a voice that asks: " And you? What have you done?"
Well, these months have been full and challenging. The transition to a vegan diet has made so that much of my time was dedicated to cooking and experimenting with new recipes.
Meanwhile, I continued to create and as usual, I ‘m divided in two parts.
One part of me has continued with Strange Wood’s project, the other part has started a new project with a friend about creation of everything  on ceremony’s decorations.
About that, my favourite work are top cake’s creations, because they allow me to maintain a thread with my personal style.
Of course I also had to change the material used and so I must use a dough made of  cornstach, more elegantly called cold porcelain.

Singer Girl

Io, artista incostante e vagabonda!

Last Christmas I created  a little  singer girl that I gave to a dear friend who lives in Manacor.
So I had the idea to slightly modify my style. Actually, I noticed that over time, this has changed and improved. Now the characters are smaller and more graceful, less stocky in shape and their nose has an aspect more gentle.I was a little 'back with updates of photos and creations.
These days I'll try to catch up (hoping not to disappear again for months).
I, fickle and vagabond artist!

Imaginary friend

Bunny

Some theories suggest that, whenever we think about something, it becomes real. This scares me enough, but this only happens when I became an adult.
Am I an incomplete child or am I an half adult?
Sometimes I ask to myself this, but no one answers to this question.
The reason is that I don’t have an imaginary friend and I believe that only children can have it.
Adults can only create their own alter ego to confide in and keep each other company. Or, like me, surrender to the art and to the creative process to shape their imaginary friends.
Viola is a little girl (Nicola’s friend) and for two years she was always in friendship with Matteo, her imaginary friend.
I had the luck to meet him and the dumb luck to push him on the swing.
Oh, well ... your eyes would see that I pushed an empty swing, but then Matteo has few friends (maybe you are not among them :-)

My friend Bunny

Aria tranquilla, serena, pacifica.

Buon we!

The imaginary friend has specific characteristics, sometimes a super power, its character and its flaws, and he must never be overlooked.
I’m depressed over losing the creative magic as a child, and so I created my imaginary friend.
I noticed that when I think to have one, I see it always incarnate the shape of a rabbit.
And thus was born Bunny, my imaginary friend.
Looks calm, serene, peaceful.

Practically everything I need it most in this time.
Happy we!

Tell me the story

Primo piano

I have noticed that my characters are very "direct".
Seldom people ask me if they have a meaning or a story to tell.
What a pity!In fact many of them have something to say beyond what appears.
(This is also true for people, fortunately).
Some of them have very good stories and I love telling them.
I actually love to know what inspired an artist to create his project.

Retro

The cloud-woman’s Story  is very pretty.
With this, I tried to make a doll with a stitched and stuffed body, a classic.
I have done this, perhaps in a desperate attempt to satisfy the internal battle between my two great passions: sculpture and sewing.
Anyway ... now we speaking of her birth.
One morning I went to the grocery store to buy some fruits and I met an old lady that, with a lot of joy, began to tell us a dream she had that night.
She said that with a group of women, had decided to open a shop. But each of them was a woman involved with the family, the children, look after the home....
And for this reason, were able to organize their group perfect for working in shifts.
Their shop was called "The courageous ".

Herenow

Buona settimana!

While I was returning to my home, I thought of how wonderful it was that dream, and so beautiful the shop’s name ... so real solidarity and female perception, even in the unconscious of that old lady.
So in the afternoon I modeled my doll, thinking about all this, what are the women: mothers, workers, dreamers, creative, energetic and real. Light, so light as to have the head in the shape of a cloud, and above all... courageous in every aspect of their lives
Have a great week!

I'm Back!

Strangewood

(Segue traduzione inglese, abbiate comprensione per me)

(English translation to follow, you have sympathy for me)

Magari tutto scorre in modo tranquillo e poi...tac!

I'm back.
I've been away for a few months, but many things have changed and so this time for me is much dilated, compared to reality.
Sometimes we all need a break, which comes suddenly, without warning.
Perhaps everything runs so quiet ... and then “tack”! You may not see me on here anymore.
Then, nothing changes. You continue to live where you live, to do the same things, but something clicks in your head and you improve.
Your ideas improves the quality of your lifestyle, your way of being.
And then you're ready to start from where you had left, but you feel different.
And so here I am with new ideas and projects in progress.

Deer Doll

2012 was really a year of transition and clarifier.
I did a lot of nature walks, I missed this contact and I have seen how this in my life has been forgotten a bit too long.
Last week I participated in a flea market in Tuscany and it went very well: I had the answers I sought.
I leave you some pictures ... waiting to show you some new sculptures.
Even if I believe that I’ll come back fully operative only in September ... because I have one more outstanding travel.
(Thank you to my followers for the patience.)

Mr Wolf & Mr Fox

Big bad wolf

I have a friend from thirty years.
After all, she is my best friend.
I know her very well.
And she also knows me.
We are very different, but we are complementary.
I have a child and she still hasn’t.
When I call her she always is: once at Paris, once in Madagascar, once in Madrid, etc.etc.…even if she lives and works in Milano.
I'm always here, more or less on the sofa, and now I listen to the song that I also listen to three years ago.
But with a child “attached" to the neck.
And my mind wanders.
I remember my work in Genova, my drinks in the alleys of the city, laughter with friends.
To go home I never watched the clock, I went back when I went back.
I improvised travels, holidays, evenings.
When I had a plan, suddenly changed my mind, I took a train and spent my day in another city. I watched movies until late night, I went to the cinema, I spent afternoons at the beach with my bestfriend.
I talked about everythings watching the people in their eyes. Not on the phone.
I sang loudly and danced in my underwear at home, I went out with heels, with makeup, with meches always stowed.
I had much time for me. But much, very much.

Now a hand shakes my ear and brings me back here, where to go away for only one day, I must mobilize parents, to organize at least one month before, mainly I have tennis shoes and I remember that the cinema exists only when I see the trailers on TV.
If I don’t fall asleep at 11 p.m., maybe I can also watch a movie, but it is rare.
Everything fits with infinite precision in my day.
But would not turn back for anything, because I finally opened my heart to feelings what I have ever known.
I never knew so many fairy tales as now.
Characther was never more likeable of the big bad wolf, I never considered an animal so nice as today I consider Swiper the fox ...
But in my room when I create and I imagine, when I’m finally alone in the night .... really alone with myself, I know that one day I’ll be able to get a drink in the city again.
Including my shoes with heels.
Because time goes by and goes and goes and goes....
And I will feel homesick again.

Two friends

Improvvisavo viaggi, vacanze, serate.
Avevo tanto tempo per me.Ma tanto, tantissimo.

Lachera 2012

Lachera 2012

Lachera 2012 collage

Last Sunday there was the celebration of Carnival.
As every year we have seen the great show of Lachera dancing through the streets of the village.
Unfortunately it was very cold and the party ended earlier than usual.
Here you can see some pictures, but if you want to know something more about this festival, visit this site.

Nicola...brrrrrrr!

This year Nicola was dressed as Robin Hood, but I have added a scarf. It was too cold!
I love to sew his dress ... even if I always end up working at the last minute :-(

Business card

Speaking about myself, I'm working for a fair that will be in late February, but I don’t want to say more.
In the coming days there will be a wonderful giveaway....
And for now: Happy Valentine’s day all!
